"...With a line I'll mark the past
as a symbol of beginning.
To the gods whose names we've lost
and the names who gave in vain.

And if rain brings winds of change
let it rain on us forever.
I have no doubt from what I've seen
that I have never wanted more.
With this line I'll mark the past
as a symbol of beginning.
I have no doubt from what I've seen
that I have never wanted more."

-VNV Nation

Last "personal" doodle before I hunker down into commission mode.

I know I've already done an image to this song, but I couldn't resist yet another. =P

Statue wouldn't have been possible without some concrete texturing edited here and there to make it look as real as I can make it. Clouds were also referenced off of a bunch of thunderstorm photos I took awhile back.

I'm still undecided about Link's tail star.

Naw, it's just her weapon of choice- was kinda trying to design a more battle-efficient variation of the weapon/harvesting implement. xD

And thank-you! =D

Awesome statue, love the intricate details you added to it :D Is it jus me or did you intend for Linkev to look old, weary or tired in this pic?

1. The raindrops - I've always wondered, are they freehand or made possible with some kind of brush?
2. Link needs a raincoat. Wait. Link's an otter. She could care less, couldn't she?
3. I'd almost prefer seeing the statue's eyes blanked out like the statues of old.. I mean the black pupil should be hollowed out and not have a shiny in it, since statue builders don't usually include shinies. It might give it that certain something-something.
4. Using references from your photography REALLY paid off, I think. Those clouds look fantastic.

1. The rain drops are freehanded, and then duplicated and erased in parts.
2. I guess that's /kinda/ Link's raincoat. =P
3. The pupil isn't actually black; I was trying to shade it so it looked hollowed out with rain pooling inside or sommat.
4. Thanks! =D I'm hoping that I'll be able to start freehanding storm clouds soon.

3. THAT would be awesome, especially if you made that the focus, maybe not in this drawing but in another. Crying statues =P

Reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus, for some reason. The monument looks like a fallen Colossus years after it was destroyed.

Anyway, it's quite cool. I love the atmosphere, as usual.

Geez.

I knew this would look epic colored.
Better than what I was thinking, what with a crazy, firey sunset blooming out from behind the head.

Who's the monument to, anyway?

Probably some past Calatonan ruler. But I haven't really decided if I want the original inhabitants before the apocalypse to be humans, or to just be anthros.

And thanks! =D
